Your New Harwood

The Harwood Museum of Art is building the future!  On December 11, 2010 the Museum opened the expansion that increases the size of our building by 10,700 square feet and greatly enhances the museum's ability to "bring Taos arts to the world and world arts to Taos."  The transformed museum features a new gallery, an auditorium equipped with high-definition projection and surround sound, and a greatly expanded and upgraded collection storage space.

INCREASED GALLERY SPACE
Increased gallery spaceThe new 1,150 sq. ft. Mandelman-Ribak Gallery honors the legacy of Louis Ribak and Beatrice Mandelman, two long-time Taos artists who were part of the Taos Moderns movement. The gallery will show works from the museum's permanent collection and will feature changing curated exhibitions.

Performance spaceARTHUR BELL AUDITORIUM
The new addition includes much needed auditorium space for lectures, concerts, performances, and presentations. Seating will be flexible, and the room can be acoustically tuned depending on the function. The space is also be available for receptions and openings.

Double collection storage COLLECTION STORAGE SPACE
Storage space for the museum's collection will be tripled, and a new, high-tech, compact storage system has been installed. Improved security and a new HVAC system will ensure the preservation of our growing collection.
