The Harwood Museum of Art presents a weekly meditative Jivamukti Yoga program with Jayne Schell on Thursdays from 8:30am - 10am. Open to all levels, yoga mats provided. $8 for Alliance Members at the Individual level and above (These Alliance Members may also purchase a Class Card of 8 classes for $40) or $10 General Admission. High expectations are in order for Lorca Hart Trio, led by Hart, who has played with Kyle Eastwood and Hugh Masekela, the Clayton Brothers and Anthony Wilson. Meet Dr. Tom Swetnam, an expert in using tree-rings to study environmental and cultural history. His talk will focus on tree-ring dating and examples of historical insights and discoveries from studies in northern New Mexico.

TCMG’s 26th season opens with a program that brings violinist and social advocate Vijay Gupta to Taos, performing compositions with TCMG by Bach, Reena Esmail and Handel-Halvorsen. One of the youngest musicians to join the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gupta is also a TED Senior Fellow, Kennedy Center Citizen Artist and co-founder of Street Symphony, which performs for homeless and incarcerated people in Los Angeles. Duo Violão Brasil band (Rogerio Souza and Edinho Gerber), on tour from Rio de Janeiro, will present a special evening of choro featuring compositions of Baden Powell, Pixinguinha, Radames Gnattali, and originals by Rogerio Souza. They will be accompanied by special guests Ami Molinelli (percussion).
Tickets are $15.00 for general and $12 for museum members.

Laura Pritchett is the author /editor of nine books. She began her writing journey with the short story collection Hell’s Bottom, Colorado, which won the PEN USA Award for Fiction and the Milkweed National Fiction Prize. This was followed by the novels Sky Bridge, Stars Go Blue, Red Lightning, and The Blue Hour, which garnered other awards.
This program is free to the public, doors open at 6:30 pm.

As Resident Chamber Music Group of the Harwood Museum, TCMG presents music inspired by art. Jennifer Higdon’s American Canvas for flute, cello and piano has three movements titled O’Keefe, Pollock and Wyeth. Bruce Wolosoff’s The Loom for piano trio is based on Eric Fischl’s watercolors, and Glen Roven’s work for violin and piano is called Three Paintings by Agnes Martin.
